Aloo Methi Puff Pastry

This is a quick and easy appetizer. But feels like you have put in a lot of effort. Thanks to the frozen pastry sheets!

I wish I live on a 2 acre farm land with cows and horses and 10 people to tend to me. There will be a hidden gold pot in my backyard where I can put my hand in and pull out dollars. There will be an infinite supply of food in the house. I will have nothing to do. So, one day because I'm super bored, I will start to make puff pastry sheets from scratch. Sccccccccccccccreeecccchhhh...HALT. End of dream. Until then, since I don't have any of the above and cannot find time, I will stick to my frozen puff pastry sheets! Easy and tasty.

First boil a few potatoes and peel the skin. Like this.

In a pan, add about a tbsp of oil. Add some jeera, chopped green chillies, ginger and garlic. Fry for a min and then add chopped onions (about 1 big onion). Fry till translucent.

Pick up the boiled potatoes and gently mash with your hand and add it to the pan.

Add salt, tumeric powder, red chilli powder and a little bit of garam masala.

Usually I add green peas to this. So, I opened my freezer to get some frozen peas and lo and behold - there were none. I was out of peas. I rummaged through my freezer for anything that I could get. I had some frozen methi in here. I've heard of Aloo Palak and I like that. This should not be too different. It is after all a good variety of greens. So, I picked it up. These are packaged in small cubes. I microwaved about 3 cubes for a couple of mins.

Add the microwaved methi leaves to the aloo masala. Mix well. Cook for a couple of minutes. You can use a masher and mash it all up really well.

Here's the filling ready to go.

Here's my frozen puff pastry. (Note to self...work hard..find that farm..settle down..find the gold pot..hire 10 people..enjoy life. )

Fill up the sheets with the masala filling.

Bake in a 350F pre heated oven for about 12-15 mins. Or until golden brown on top.

Since these were really long, I cut them into two pieces each. More manageable as appetizers.

Enjoy it with Maggi Hot and Sweet or Ketchup! These just fly off the shelf and there were just a couple of them remaining and my husband packed them for lunch today!

Peace out!
